We live in a world where being “booked & busy” is praised like a badge of honor. Everybody’s in a rush, always in group chats, scrolling through their phones 24/7, trying to keep up with life. But no one really talks about how loud it gets in your head when you never give yourself a break.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for your mental health is sit your ass down, put your phone on Do Not Disturb, and just be quiet for a second. No distractions, no audience, no noise, just you, your thoughts, and much needed peace.
By the way, it’s not about being anti-social or disappearing on people. It’s about giving yourself permission to check in with you and choosing your purpose. You have to create space for you to breathe, to feel, to think…. Without the whole world in your ear. That’s the kind of “self-edit” no one talks about, but it’s in fact the most powerful one.
Silence is Where You Find You:
We don’t realize how much of our thoughts aren’t even ours. Social media, other people issues, constant notifications, always background noises, it’s honestly like a mental spam. Silence is when you finally get a chance to hear your own background noise, no one else’s.
It’s in the quiet moments when you start to notice:
- The real reason why you feeling anxious
- The little habits draining your energy
- The dreams and ideas you’ve been ignoring because life is so damn! Loud!
When you actually take time to be still, you’re not running from your problems, you giving yourself a safe space to process them.
Alone Time is a Self-Edit – PERIOD
Think of it like this:
You’re the editor of your own life.
And sometimes, you got to go through and delete all the extra noise, extra energy, extra chaos that doesn’t serve you NOTHING.
Alone time is you pressing “pause” so you can get back to the true & real you.
It’s not about cutting people off it’s about saying “I’m in editing mode right now. I’ll get back to y’all when I’m aligned.”
Why is Silence a Game-Changer for your Mental Health:
Let’s talk benefits:
- Mental Clarity- You will start seeing things for what they are, not how anxiety twists them.
- Anxiety Relief – The less noise, the less your mind feels like it’s running a marathon.
- Better Decisions – Without all the outside opinions, You will hear your intuition louder.
- Emotional Detox – You can finally feel what you need to feel, without distractions.
- Recharging Your Energy – You will stop pouring from an empty cup because silence fills you back up.
Easy Ways to Tap Into Silence (Even if Your Always Busy)
- Morning Quiet Time – Before the world wakes up give yourself 10-15 minutes. No music, No phone, No TV, just you.

Give Yourself Permission To Be Still:
You don’t need to apologize for taking your time to be quiet. You don’t need permission to disconnect & recharge. Healing doesn’t always look like big and dramatic moments. Sometimes it’s just you, sitting in silence, editing out what doesn’t belong in your spirit anymore.
So….. next time life gets loud, silence will be your reset button. That will be your Self-Edit moment.
